Fast fashion is „dead“ …. Isn’t it?

Trends come and go… You just bought a new it-piece, you wore it twice and now you feel like it has already fallen out of fashion?

Think again! It is often claimed that we live in a so called “throwaway society”. This might hold true for some of us but I will tell you why it should not hold true for you and how not throwing away can help you save money.

I have a passion for collecting things. For example I collect shoes, clothes, bag, jewelry, foreign coins ….. and old fashion magazines. So the other day I was – believe it or not – cleaning out and went through one of those “old” magazines. Fall 2010. In print media three years and six fashion seasons later is like ancient.

Nevertheless, what I found was fairly surprising. Leather pants, Parkas, Vintage- and Ethnoprints and edgy biker boots. Nothing we don’t still wear three years later. In fact, if anything these trends have become more popular.

Leather Pants + Parka + Biker Boots + Leoprint Bag = Killer Outfit

We !!!

So before you treat yourself to some retail therapy and purchase the third parka in olive-green, go back to your existing wardrobe. Vintage is never out of fashion. Instead give your outfit a posh twist and combine the leather pants with black or red pumps.

Speaking of pumps… we already wore the pointy toe pumps like five years ago. Now they are the “new” go-to pumps. A trend is never dead. Only comatose until it is reborn again.

Hair Extensions: How to find the perfect extensions for your beauty needs?

I have been using hair extensions for a while now and I wanted to share a few tips with you on how to find the perfect extensions.

1.       Research. Find five major extension suppliers and research them thoroughly. Search their website and learn about their products. However, equally important is the research outside of their official websites. Search for negative product reviews to find out the truth. Good hair extensions are not cheap products and you deserve the best value for money.

2.       Avoid traps. Many suppliers buy positive reviews. Yes! They pay famous Youtube video bloggers to praise their products. Don’t fall for that! It’s hard to know who is real and who is fake.

3.       Know your expectations. Which look do you want to achieve with your extensions? Ask yourself this question and think about it for a while. Do you want to add volume or length? Do you want to wear them curled every day? Do you want to bleach or die them? All these factors strongly influence the look and the life span of your extensions. The volume or length question can help you save money. Rule-of-thumb: the longer the extensions the higher the price.

4.       Remi-human hair only!!!

5.       Choice of color. Try to stay away from dying or bleaching. It can be done but I cannot recommend it. The hair will lose its original shine and softness forever. So plan ahead when choosing the color. If you are unsure about your own hair color ask a hair stylist to help you determine it.

6.       Budget. Figure out how much you want to spend. A decent set of extensions will cost you around $ 150. However, don’t be stingy. Sometimes an additional $ 20 can make all the difference. Remember: Hair extensions are an investment into your beauty and they pay off very well.

Shop smart and enjoy your extensions ;-)
